And this cute and sweet little thing is a 'butcher bird'?! (Lanius tigrinus; the genus Lanius, means 'butcher' in Latin).
I have yet to come across its peculiar habit of impaling its preys such as lizards and insects, even small birds, on barbed wires or thorns to set aside for later consumption. Perhaps it's because that I've come across are mainly immatures and their preys are devoured in its entirety as soon as caught.
But what piercing eyes!
And down the road perched another that gave no opportunity for a close-up.
