Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Such is mere bird brain!?

A parent's care is not just with food, and who dare dismiss so carelessly bird brain!?

On a blazingly hot day when a young chick, barely weeks old with its wing flesh still looking rather raw, was left alone, but not for long.

But it's strong enough to be calling out, and loud too.

It was truly touching to witness what this parent did when it eventually came to the nest.

Looked like it's not the right spot despite this spot being the chick's favourite as observed for  the last hour plus.

This parent has actually been guarding the chick from afar, calling out loud from time to time presumably for the other to bring food.

So it's back to trying to choose the best spot for shade.

Don't worry, I'm too far to pose a threat!

I'm as concerned for the chick in this blinding heat!

Did the chick eventually move to the improvised shade after the parent has left?

Nope, as observed before it remained at its favourite spot, with neither parents to the nest for the next hour, but the same one remained on guard from not too far away.
