Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A young raptor

I almost missed this young Black-thighed Falconet until it started to chase off all the birds that came to the tree.

This is one bird that rarely comes down to a relatively low tree so it could be because it's still a young one, perhaps still learning to hunt.
Who would believe that it could be a raptor hunter with such a cute look!  Deceptive indeed!

It continued to fly about either hoping to get a prey or simply trying to establish its dominance as a raptor, perching from time to time.
