Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Woodpecker regular

The taman is presently playing host to two species of woodpeckers now.  The sound and sight of the Banded Woodpecker entertain regularly.
This one was flying from tree to tree before it finally settled down for me to get some decent shots.

It was so busy calling out as if expecting company that it didn't mind me getting closer, and even more ideal when it started to preen when there was no response to its call.

And then it's off to explore and finally out of sight.
