Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

To each its own

It's fascinating to note how each migrant flycatcher has managed to establish its respective territory throughout their stay at the bukit.

Equally interesting was how they boldly flew about, chasing off other flycatchers that dared to trespass!

The Asian Brown Flycatcher was as usual one of the earlier arrivals, and after more than five months here in the bukit, it seemed like very much into 'adult' plumage now.

The Dark-sided Flycatcher seemed to have taken a liking to the bukit as it was observed to have started staying the duration of its winter away here since only the last couple of years.

Spotted in December it too has moulted richly.

This Dark-sided Flycatcher has also successfully taken over the area that was once monopolised by the Green-backed Flycatcher for so many years.  I could probably surmise that the Green-backed Flycatcher has lost out trying to reclaim territory as it's been spotted elsewhere, looking mightily yellow with a tinge of orangey at the throat.

It was seen to regurgitate and spit out a black mass, a natural digestive act (?) as observed with other flycatchers too.

And even this young 'punk' of a late arrival had quickly established its territory that it had boldly chased off a Yellow-rumped Flycatcher and seemed to rule alone ertswhile.

This poor one couldn't flew off fast enough.
