The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

Barred Eagle-Owl

My very first sighting of the Barred Eagle-Owl in the taman, one that's normally sighted in the bukit.

It looked like it was going to be an undisturbed deep mid-morning snooze.

And then the long-tailed macaques came.

And then the leaf-blower came.

And now it's wide-eyed.

And then looked like I was now a guilty party too.

Was it still planning to return to snooze?

Unfortunately more macaques came forth.

What choice did it have?

Eventually left the taman as, even here, the younger macaques were lingering below.

Crow-billed Drongo

Twigs and leaves are there to serve a purpose and birds know that all too well.

And we got to learn to not begrudge a wary one, one that knows how to avoid prying eyes.

And for the fun of it, it ain't impossible to get an 'open' image!

Black-thighed Falconet

Uncommon but real, probably power in territorial right or number.

And so this almost pint-size of a raptor, a Black-thighed Falconet was chased off by Black-naped Orioles, so sudden that I was too stunned and could only utter out loud.

Was minding its own business until it decided to fly to a nearby tree.

The episode was all the more surprising when it happened to an adult falconet.

Taking flight to a solitary topless tree-stand.

And these Orioles were not even adult birds.
The aggressor eventually chased off what looked like its younger sibling.

The younger sub-adult.
