Walking up the bukit after being away for a couple of months felt truly like homecoming!
With the avian migrant season already dawned, it was unsurprising that the first migrant visitor to be sighted was an Asian Brown Flycatcher (Muscicapa dauurica)(Sambar-Kusam Biasa), like one has come home from afar.
So how does one view an old friend in new light?
And true to its nature, it kept to mid to upper canopy.
It's evident that this is one bird that bears a not too attractive plumage but to have it described as 'kusam' ie dull and dreary does tear at the heart whilst 'sambar' is an obvious reference to its characteristic act of catching while flying, and 'biasa'?, adding salt to wound!?
And was characteristically ceaselessly, unpredictable too, as it sallied for preys.
It's only natural, it's wu wei, as I committed to reflect its physical size and presence in its surroundings (although couldn't resist one crop-up to reaffirm its identity).
An unexpected backward flick!
A predictable move.
Did I predict this move?!
