The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

The bird singeth not

It was not the melody, this time, that drew my attention but flapping of wings and threatening calls.  The White-rumped Shama was in a confrontational mood but unfortunately I couldn't locate the threat although all I did see seconds earlier was a black bird that flew in.  Was it the same, or was it the aggressor?

Fortunately its defensive, or was it aggressive stance worked!

And this resident eventually left too.

Melodious encounter, again

A common but melodious call and I never thought I'll be uplifted when I hear it.  But I so am, more than uplifted, heartened, grateful, exhilarated, captivated, enchanted, inspired, simply bursting with joy that you're still around.

And so fortunate we have quickly learnt to appreciate your presence before you become near threatened due to greed.

I was even thrilled when you turned your back on me!

Songbird of the hill

One simply cannot ignore its calls, and this one did so relentlessly although I could not hear any response, perhaps the reason for that persistence.

Those who know it know it by its name.

And this one looks stunning, fresh and pristine, glossy blue-black above and rich orange-rufous below.

And how its diagnostic feature, its namesake stood out.

Another distinct feature, its long graduated tail.
