The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

White-headed Munias

Nothing is common, only to eyes that only see.

A common bird but uncommon to the taman, an occasional visitor, the  pair of White-headed Munias was a pleasant find, and another too.

Looked like little escaped the instinct of this one, even as I was far off, on the opposite side of the pond.

Followed by its mate ...

... into the mysterious, the intriguing, in the interwoven cluster of a shrub.

... and out, and still alert to my presence.

This lone soul of a Baya Weaver made for the two most common grass-seed eaters of the taman.
Did she simply tag along, in like-minded company?!

Baya Weaver

Lately it has been encounters by avian families, and this time of Baya Weavers.

Food, always food that commands absolute attention and focus, and with this pair of adult and sub-adult, my presence was simply ignored even as I ventured close to them.

Meanwhile, the female foraged apart, and of different meal.

Beyond the weave

How much is much - not too much when offered is much appreciated.

And another lurked too, but not beyond sight.

The weaver and the munia

One day it were the Scaly-breasted Munias (Lonchura punctulata), and when these birds no longer forage here, the Baya Weavers (Ploceus philippinus) came, looking as if the Munias always have the first go at these grass seeds.

I've yet to come across these two species forage together here.

A lone female Baya Weaver seemed to be on the look-out and I soon learnt why ...

... this juvenile was sitting quietly just a tree away.

And it looked like it's female day out.
