Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

An encounter, missed

While the adult Brown-throated Sunbird was busy foraging, the call of another sunbird drew me to try and spot it, also find out why the desperate continuous call.  It turned out to be a juvenile.  As I was too engrossed trying to spot it I missed the presence of the juvenile Crested Goshawk (which flew to another branch upon my approach) which was perched right opposite the juvy Sunbird, giving the impression it was ready to pounce on the smaller one at any time, until the adult Sunbird flew in and flew away with its juvy.
This is what I call a birder's luck!  That missed opportunity to capture the Goshawk at eye level, which would have been a rare treat, and facing what could be a prey!
