Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A recollection

Reading the following post, extract of Friends of Bukit Kiara @Friends of Bukit Kiara Facebook:

"How many residents and visitors to Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) know that the park is regularly visited by at least 2 hornbills. There used to be three of them. The Black Hornbill has not been seen for a couple of years now. However the two Oriental Pied Hornbills still visit TRK occasionally. Here is sharing images of the three birds. Another good reason to keep TRK as it is."

I am reminded of how lucky I am to live at the edge of Taman Rimba Kiara where I do get the 'spillover' from the taman, in terms of bird sightings.  I can practically consider the taman as my backyard (and here's praying that the taman will remain a taman without the present and constant threat of senseless development, so destruction).
This Black Hornbill was seen in front of my townhouse, picture shot in 2010 when first sighted.

Although the Black Hornbill is no longer seen here, but this Oriental Pied Hornbill is still very much around. It can be sighted in the taman and surrounding area.
