Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Another horror clearing

I was told that the Department of Irrigation and Drainage was carrying out maintenance work, so was witness to another cutting and chopping spree, of bushes and trees, clearing of undergrowth, plants that were habitats and haunts of birds.
Before, White-breasted Waterhens were frequently seen walking through the undergrowth.  Others like the Bee-eaters, Tailorbirds and Bulbuls were regularly seen there.

The popular sand bar of birds will be flattened as sand is being removed.

Just a week ago, a happy migrant Grey Wagtail was walking around foraging.

A few days later, the Baya Weavers were feeding happily on the opposite bank.
