Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Finally, the Fantail

When I first spotted the Pied Fantail, I only managed a record shot which was not even worthy of posting.  The bird is local and commonly seen in gardens and parks, but is an infrequent visitor to the taman.
Finally on this occasion, it stayed long enough for me to get some decent shots, even then these were far from ideal in view of what I deemed its whimsical behaviour, or some may say erratic, flitting across a vast expanse of space including ground and canopy level.  Chasing it, trying to spot it under varying lighting condition, photographing this ever active bird measuring about 18-19 cm is a real challenge.  It's pretty obvious why this bird is called the fantail, by the way it constantly fans its tail.  The Malay name for the bird is merbok, or murai gila, ie crazy songbird, I guess, referring to its crazy flitting movements and unceasing fanning of tail.
The following images speak for themselves in terms of the ground and trees covered by the Fantail as it foraged and at one time, even seemed to spar with an oriental magpie robin.

This curtain of hanging vines seemed to be its favourite as it tarried the longest here.  Unfortunately this was the least desirable in terms of background lighting and pose.

And then it sought the dense foliage and before I knew it, was out and about again.

Down to the ground.

When least expected it flew into the shade again, to emerge immediately, up a tree.

Only managed to sight it, just, in time for a mere blocked shot.
