Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Tracking the Waterhen

Soon after I came across the brood of White-breasted Waterhens, I have been always on the look-out for them, hoping to track their development.

Unfortunately these chicks were no where in sight.  However the next time I came across one, and only one, was about a month later.  Still, it was thrilling to have sighted this sub-adult, which showed that this bird certainly developed fast.

And then only after a couple of weeks, I managed to spot it again.  Waterhens are generally simply too alert to and wary of human presence.  One senses their presence more than sight them.

The difference of a couple of weeks and this was how it looked then.
