Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

The serpent-eagle and its legs

It was quite an 'indecent' wish but when the Crested Serpent-eagle had its back and rear looking like that, my one wish was that it would poop, because by doing so, it would lift its rear and thus enable a better look at its powerful legs!

And it did!  The tiny white dot was actually part of its long discharge which unfortunately I didn't capture in full as my focus was the thick scaly legs which could grasp a cobra and nary a prick, let alone a tear can the snake give to these powerful armoured legs.

And then it looked like it had enough of humans peering unashamedly at it, it flew to the next tree for a demure pose.

But don't be fooled, of that size, and hooked beak and piercing eyes this raptor is anything but!
