It's more often than not when I chance upon the Striated Heron or Little Heron (Butorides striata), and common as it may be although it's not often seen now, perhaps due to the more exposed riversides, it's pretty well camouflaged as it walks stealthily hunting.
This bird which is of Least Concerned status is very much a solo hunter.
And expect that following its meal, it will fluff or deposit a little before it flies off.
On this occasion the inevitable happened as expected.
And fluffing also meant flexing/clearing the throat.
