Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A cute 'tiger'

I was surprised to come across the Tiger Shrike in the bukit as I consider this fella as a passage migrant here.  It may stay long in other forest areas or parks but certainly not in Bukit Kiara or TRK as observed over the years.

This first winter shrike must be the cutest I've encountered.

A sudden swift movement and it swooped down and up with its prey, unfortunately away from view but looked like a big catch, and then to retreat further into the inner area.

One week later, this cutie was still around, quietly enjoying the late morning air.
