Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

When barbet comes down

It was a quiet afternoon with only me around, and heading home, I literally walked into the Coppersmith Barbet that had decided to come down to forage, and too close, as I had to back away to attempt my shots against rather hostile lighting.

And it was me alone after all, so it was not fazed at all as I scurried here and there to get ideal shots.  And then it was all over in hardly a minute as it fled up to higher canopy.
