Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

The 'forked' one

The Crow-billed Drongo (Dicrurus annectens) is a medium-sized bird quite easily recognisable by its thick bill and, flared and forked tail.  It may be of Least Concern status implying omnipresence but I've hardly found it a common migrant.

In addition it's easily spooked too, fleeing when sensing human approach, which was why I've not been able to obtain satisfactory images despite recording its presence here every 'winter' year since 2019.

Again, I spotted it quite deep into the Kiara trail and it remained there the entire duration, on the very same perch.

The forked tail immediately gave away its identity and so did the white spotting on the breast and belly.
