Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Yellow 'fever'

It has got to be the most under-appreciated garden bird because its presence is ubiquitous although to get ideal images can prove to be a challenge.

The Black-naped Oriole (Oriolus chinesis) is a passerine bird that is commonly spotted in gardens and urban parks but has got to be one of the more skittish birds to nail down for an excellent shot.  In addition its brilliant yellow too can deflect an accurate portrayal.

The immatures are generally less skittish so this was my morning when two suddenly flew in, one after the other.

The second bird was a little more matured going by the darker plumage.

And this encounter triggered off memories of past captures of these stunners in different stages of maturity.

And all the adults, almost, that came my way over the years!

Hi Ms Chuah

Great blog. Malaysians do need more of this. Keep up the good work.
