The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

Pied Triller

Not letting the 'thrill' abate ....

Do you hear what I hear?

Pied Triller

Maybe black and white, but its beauty is undeniable, and similar to other avian species at this time of the year, the two parents, presumably of different families, were accompanied by their young.

And the other family.

Pied Triller

Ahh, the more distinctive, more handsome, clean-looking male in contrast to the female of greyish scaly-like under-part.

Pied Triller

A much welcome park bird, elegant and almost stylish by look and  pose, but sometimes tend to clumsiness in its haste in pursuit, the Pied Triller remains a favourite with bird seekers.

An awkward moment in repositioning.

Not an empty nester

The Pied Triller was not an empty nester.
Its young might have left the nest but seemed to hang on still (how it rings a bell here in the human world too).

The begging calls were unmistakable and it was a surprise to spot a very much adult looking female Pied Triller trailing after its female parent.

It landed only to take off again as the parent kept moving away.

Finally managed to catch up.

And a meal at last.

Looked like there was going to be a deprivation here, perhaps a message for the young one.

But the parent caved in eventually, and the catch was seized, swallowed, in less than the blink of an eye!

And then the chase resumed as the young triller went a-begging again.

A momentary rest.

And I thought best to leave with these rather adorable images of a juvenile than with images of a parent's over-indulgence.
