Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Pitta in TRK!

This is all so incredible and exciting, that is to find a Blue-Winged Pitta at the taman!
Presently the only sighting in the Klang Valley is the Taman Botani Shah Alam which has seen hordes of birders descending on the bird site.
This little migratory fella is still so wary of human presence that viewing and shooting has to be done behind trees and at a distance.  Hopefully if it stayed long enough it would be less sensitive.  Nevertheless its gorgeous colours are unmistakable even from a distance.
The presence of this rare bird once again proves how strategic Taman Rimba Kiara is to migratory birds.  My personal record has shown that more than 10 species of migratory birds have been sighted here since the migratory period started in late August last year, truly incredible for an urban park!
