Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Oriole to the 'rescue'

It is terribly 'quiet' these days in the taman, without any new migrant sighting and only the local birds to entertain as these go about their business as usual, squabbling and foraging!  Even the Asian Brown Flycatcher is not easy to spot.  It was left to this Black-naped Oriole to ensure that I did not return home without 'triggering' the camera shutter!  It flew in quickly, with a fat juicy larva, and left just as speedily.

After whacking the prey a few times on the trunk, it was swallowed whole and down!

A very satisfied bird!
