Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

The Munia exposed!

Watching the Scaly-breasted Munia can be a captivating occasion, i.e. its balancing act.  It's also when one gets to admire the bird's gorgeous plumage as it's revealed when the bird twists, twirls and whirls on the wild grass, exposing its under-parts such as the throat, breast, flank, belly, vent, and under-tail coverts.

Munias rarely forage alone.  It's always a family or social event.
