Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Minivet speeds through

The Ashy Minivets (Pericrocotus divaricatus) have finally arrived at the taman.  These are normally sighted in a bird wave here, and typically keeps to higher canopy.  However a flock usually reveal its presence by trilling calls, and foraging movements.

These birds could come from south-eastern Siberia, north-eastern China, Korea, Japan or Taiwan.

On this occasion, only a couple were seen, and the female sighted with the other on a touch and go speed.
