Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Flycatcher arrival

My first sighting of the season, a record shot of a Brown-streaked Flycatcher (Muscicapa williamsoni), almost always the earliest arrival of migrant visitors each year.  However it's only a transit one.

The earliest personal sighting in the taman was in 2017, and since then has been a regular visitor, teasing with its open perch in mid or upper canopy.  Only in 2017 was it so far down that I could lob at it, perhaps it had newly arrived then, was still in a daze for it was pretty docile as I circled below it.

Refresher (extract mybis):
Order - Passeriformes
Family - Muscicapidae (Old World Flycatchers)
Genus - Muscicapa
Specific epithet - williamsoni Deignan, 1957
Common name: Brown-streaked Flycatcher, Sambar Belantara, Sambar Coret Coklat
Status: Least Concern
