Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

'Autumn' is thy name

From the cool and refreshing air of Chiangrai I walked into hot and humid Taman Rimba Kiara but could have sworn autumn had descended into a part of the taman!

And of course the pathway and immediate ground was festive with the warm colours of the fallen leaves.

It looked like business was as usual in the taman, going by the persistent calls and sounds of life, of forms more heard than seen, testimony to the quality of life in the taman! And which better bird but the striking Black-naped Oriole to greet me, or rather entertain with its antics and calls, its yellow a worthy match to the 'autumn' leaves!
(And I also discovered there is also cause for celebration in the taman, perhaps more of this later!!)

Even in the shade the brilliant plumage of the Oriole was not lost!
