Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Waterhen, where art thou?

It has been quite worrying when I did not come across nor detect the White-breasted Waterhen for almost two weeks.  These water birds are one of the most common residents of the taman so it was quite disturbing when none was seen or heard over this period, too long and too unusual.
Then I chanced upon this one, a sub-adult and it was somewhat comforting but nevertheless still not enough because these birds should be more easily sighted than merely on a rare occasion.
