Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Wild wild bloom

The wild mangosteen tree was in full bloom.  The flowers were gorgeous.  It was simply irresistible not to stop and admire such beauty.

This seems to be the only wild mangosteen tree in the taman and I wonder if it was planted by intent.  The flowers do drop profusely but it does make a colourful carpet on the ground, and the flowering doesn't seem to lead to any fruiting.
