Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Entertaining Woodpecker

It has been pretty easy to spot the Common Flameback Woodpecker in the taman but lately it has not been so.  Could it be that the young ones that I used to see had ventured away?  There used to be a family of five frequently sighted about the taman.
So, when I came across this old stock, I was more than happy to browse and recalled how I never failed to be entertained by these Woodpeckers.  Common and more easily spotted than other woodpeckers in the taman but nevertheless beautiful.

So delightful and amusing to watch as the bird foraged.

And then a pause as it decided where it wanted to go next which set me running after it as it flew to another part of the tree.

And then its acrobatic antics!

And then as normal as it could be again

Always gorgeous from any angle.
