Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Sparrows' antics

I would think that when birds were unduly disturbed by noise they would fly up or higher but to my astonishment I was proved wrong by the reactions of these Eurasian Tree Sparrows.  As the grass cutter approached with deafening whirling sound this flock of sparrows flew desperately down from the tree into the bushes.

I was surprised yet bemused by these two as if trying to burrow into the earth to hide.

Lying still to wait out the din.

When this one spotted me I tried to move out of sight hoping not to further distress it.

I guessed not every bird was disturbed by the noise.

Still looking unsettled.

As the others came out of hiding, this young one continued to crouch there but did eventually fly off following the others.
