Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

The crimson-winged woodpeckers came again

The Crimson-winged Woodpeckers made a repeat visit to the taman, and one could not help but noticed their presence with the amount of knocking and cries made.  Incidentally, the first time I sighted these birds was also in September, of last year.

This pair was pretty obliging with their presence, not easily fazed even with a couple of birders approaching close to them and the worker and his blower machine passing by.

However it looked like there was more search and digging than food, and the male even stealing a snooze in between.

And moments when the pair decided to come together were alacking but when they did, they were a stunning pair indeed.

The female was more active, flying about to different trees and displaying acrobatic prowess.
