Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

"Curiouser and curiouser"

The sight of the Blue-throated Bee-eater perching calmly whilst another flew around it stopped me in my track, as I thought, great, avian confrontation, great photo op!

I had thought it was the  Brown Shrike winter visitor that still hasn't returned home yet, but it turned out to be a Large Woodshrike.

The cool and calm Bee-eater obviously was not the least impressed by all that flying about!

But perhaps, the Woodshrike's target was not the other one at all, and that's when its behaviour began to intrigue.  Looked like it's fixated about something else as it scanned intently about.

Whatever had caught the Woodshrike's attention must be truly worthwhile as this one was hardly fazed by my presence as it continued with its 'obsession'.

It looked like it finally had had enough.

Nope, it came back, and most interestingly the Bee-eater sat calmly throughout all that posturing.

Taking off yet again, only to return to flutter about, with the Bee-eater now gone.

I was truly stumped now, trying to figure out what was going on even as I scanned the surrounding for the cause of its strange behaviour.

Finally pausing, yet still seeking.

And finally off for good, and I was still none the wiser!
