Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

The Koel entertains

It's not easy to view the Asian Koel at the lower canopy level as it tended to stay higher up but this time it's perhaps the fruits that made it come lower down.  Also, it looked like it was trying to attract a female as it called out continuously even as it held out a fruit in its bill.

The sunlight displayed the bird's gorgeous metallic back feathers, which otherwise made one think that this bird is simply another black bird.

And then it opened up, to my astonishment, as I thought birds do that only after a heavy rain to dry up, and not on a blazing hot noon day.  Perhaps this was how it kept cool.

Flapped and preened, and it was feeding again.

A 'privileged' peek into its mouth.

Nonetheless a beautiful bird.
