Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Single White-eye

There are not too many birds that take after a person's name.  The name of this bird commemorates the British zoological collector Alfred Hart Everett.  This small greenish bird of about 11cm has a distinct white eye ring, and also frequently moves in flocks but the couple of times seen in Bukit Kiara, it was a single forager.  It feeds on fruits, nectar, tiny insects and caterpillars.  And the bird is more commonly seen at higher altitude.

Having once briefly seen the Everett's White-eye in Bukit Kiara and not having satisfactory shots of the tiny ever-moving bird, I have hoped to come across it again.  And I did (for record, the following pics were shot in March) but as usual it kept to the upper canopy and was busy foraging.  However I did manage better images this time simply thanks to a better gear.
