Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A search in vain of bbkf

In the absence of the target bird, I guess I have to be contented with being entertained by these two, the resident Lineated Barbet and hopefully more regular visitor to the taman, the Crimson-winged Woodpecker.

And for record purpose I will have to set a 'sightless' record of the black-backed kingfisher, migrant 07/2020 to the taman, at least grateful that it returned, assuming it to be last year's bird?

This time this male fella kept to the upper canopy and appearance was brief.

This barbet is always well camouflaged if not for its persistent calls, and this time would have remained so too if not for its preening movements.  And it would have stayed longer if not for the sudden appearance of the asian paradise flycatcher which came in a flash of brown and left equally speedily.
