Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Just 'traffic' as usual

Another rather nondescript day for avian activities, partly due to the gloomy weather and the resumption of grating noise of earthworks downstream.

So I guessed it was just luck and timing as usual in birding, that as I stepped into the taman, I was first greeted by the Black-winged Flycatcher-shrike, then this much welcomed Asian Paradise Flycatcher flew into sight, and as speedily left, a mini bird wave that I saw comprised only two birds!

It'll always a treat to sight this one.

And then further down by the river, a little scene was played out by a yellow-vented bulbul trying to scare off the female Yellow-rumped Flycatcher.  The interesting part was how the flycatcher held on whilst the bulbul postured and practically cawed, but the minute the bulbul gave up and flew off, so did the flycatcher!  Looked like a flycatcher provocateur!

Unfortunately for the rather dense foliage and the smaller bird keeping to the riverside, images were less than ideal.
