Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Unique bloom of the bukit

The unique Amorphophallus prainii aka the Voodoo Lily, or locally as the 'lekir' tree, was a draw again as it proclaims its presence to all in the bukit.

It is a tuberous herbaceous plant of the Arum family and is known as the tree with the largest unbranched inflorescence.

Standing at about almost two feet high it's hard to miss this one, and being by the roadside.

It has a short life cycle, briefly emitting a rotting flesh stench as it opens up and withers, attracting insects like carrion flies and beetles to help in its pollination.

Wrapped in its umbrella-like leaf.

About a week later.

And I believe we can look forward to another feast for the eye.
