Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A 'trash' bird

Most birders tend to ignore this fella, the White-throated Kingfisher, which could be placed in the 'trash' (labsup in the Hokkien dialect) bird category because it's so easily found.
But I couldn't ignore this one simply because it was making such a scene with its calls, looking all flustered.  Looking around I simply couldn't find any reason for its behaviour but it certainly was a showpiece with its antics!
