Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

One fine morning

It was truly an unusual morning, and a good part of the taman seemed to just pulsate with life.

And three species of Woodpeckers foraging was truly a sight to behold.  First, it was a rare appearance by a pair of Banded Woodpecker, and this pair flew all over the taman, providing extended sighting, really can't asked for more!

And then the taman's very own resident Common Flameback Woodpeckers, playfully pursuing one another which made it extremely difficult to get the pair in one frame.

And surprise, surprise, another rare appearance by the Grey-capped Woodpeckers, and this time in pair which was a first time sighting  for me.

Another highlight of the morning was the sighting of the Brahminy Kite which I am almost convinced is of the first pair that homed in the taman, a truly sentimental moment for me.

And if all these were not enough, there was further amazement when I spotted Blue-throated Bee-eaters with a Blue-tailed Bee-eater, which was rather unusual because the Blue-throated normally would no longer be seen when the Blue-tailed arrived.

And of course, there were the other birds like the Coppersmith Barbet and Asian Glossy Starling seen sharing a perch.

And the Black-winged Flycatcher-shrike was also seen to join in the merry morning.

And who would fly right across my path but the gorgeous Red Jungle Fowl.  Gosh, if only I was ready for an image of a flying spread of gorgeous colours, at eye level right before me.

And there were more!
A truly unusual morning indeed for bird-watching!
