Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Celebrating species No 100th!

And so it's the 100th species, the Yellow-browed Warbler!  This is most unexpected because this uncommon migrant to lowlands has so far been sighted only up the hills.
This is a migrant from temperate Asia like Siberia and northern China, away to spend winter in tropical Asia.
As with any warblers, its hyperactive nature means that it's challenging to shoot, so this is not exactly the best of images but thankfully enough to identify it, its distinctiveness is its wide double wing bars and white wing tips which fortunately are still discernible.  In fact I only managed this single less-than-ideal shot and almost dismissed it as another warbler image if not for the double bars that screamed out its identity.  Thus whilst trying to contain my excitement about its identity and its rare sighting in the taman, I endeavoured to be doubly sure and that means seeking confirmation of its identity with a senior birder as well as from Mr Google.
Once again the taman has proven to be located in a strategic flight path of migrant birds, playing host to this bird, maybe on transit but hard to say, which means that I'll be scouring the taman for its future sightings.
