Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Kingfisher's hygienic routine

Recalling those days when the Black-backed Kingfisher lingered in the taman always brought, and still brings on smiles.  This smallest kingfisher was such a delight to behold, and so chased after when it was sighted that I believed many lost the opportunity to simply enjoy its presence, without the stress of trying to capture it in print.  This period will surely go down as one of the finest birding moments in the taman!
Undisturbed this one had its private moments, and came across as simply adorable.  As with any bird, it fluffed and preened after its dive into the water followed by a meal.
