Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A second myna visit

It's rather difficult to take kindly to 'explosive' celebration of any kind.  And when it happens during the day, and adjacent to the taman, it's all the more grating.

Nonetheless the successive bursts of fireworks must have momentarily frozen the Common Hill Myna, Gracula Religiosa, (blessing in disguise?!) and enabled me to spot it.  But it also caused the Myna to eventually flee the area.

Anyway I'm still grateful for a second sighting of this pair of Mynas which on this occasion were not at all vocal in contrast to the high-pitched or piercing calls they normally make.  Common Hill Mynas are monogamous and pair for life.

It quickly moved on to another branch, which led me to spot its mate just a couple of branches above.

The other mate, and on this occasion I finally managed to see and appreciate better the Myna's beautiful back that is purplish black, turquoise rump, and white patches on wings.
