Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A flowerpecker teaser

The Scarlet-backed Flycatcher (Dicaeum cruentatum) had consistently greeted me everywhere I went during my recent trips up the bukit.  However because of its rapid flitting from tree to tree, and shrub to shrub, I had not attempted to capture any shots.

Then on my most recent trip it flew just right past me to a small tree down the slope.  Well, can't resist one that practically appeared in front of you!

Looked like it finally discovered that whatever it had in the beak was unpalatable, and promptly dropped it off.

And there fled the little darling of a flowerpecker.
