Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Wave of woodshrikes

I would normally spot the Large Woodshrike (Tephrodornis gularis)  in a mixed flock of birds foraging at mid to upper canopy, discernible by its rather harsh call.  It's seldom that I come across a flock of their own so this occasion when there were about at least six was rare - they were noisy, they were hyperactive.

However they were mainly moving and hopping about separately and I was hoping that a couple would come close together, they did but never really close like paired ones normally would.
