Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Perhaps a resident now

I must pay more attention now to the presence of the Little Bronze Cuckoo because it seems to be around more now in the taman.  It is a bird that is known to prefer coastal forest although it does appear in secondary forest, therefore, urban parks.
It is easy to miss this bird because it perches quietly, is supposed to opt for the middle to low storey although the couple of times I sighted it, it was on the upper storey open bare branch.  It can also be easily mistaken for other birds unless one zooms in to the unmistakable red eye ring and black barring to the front.
