Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Protective adult

A chance sighting saw this adult male Common Flameback Woodpecker warning off an approaching squirrel, with its Juvenile close by.  And then, it decided to go its own way and left Juvy alone at the same spot.

Juvy at the one spot, calling away, before it eventually flew off.

Juvenile

It seemed like foraging outing for the Woodpeckers as a female soon alighted on the next tree, and it looked like it had a dunking before it came by.
