Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Barbets apart

It's truly frustrating when the pair of birds that you have spotted just refused to come together, and this pair of Lineated Barbets did just that to me as I waited to no avail for them to perch next to one another.



 

 
There was a little hope when one ventured down, perhaps it would join the other - but nope, it didn't.
