The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

Ode to the Yellow-rumps

As it was the first time that I had encountered a family of Yellow-rumped Flycatchers, I wanted to make sure that I got as many images as possible of these birds, unfortunately there was no occasion when they were seen together, or even in twos.
The male was the most challenging to shoot because of its colours, and was also not as frequently sighted as the female.

The female seemed to be more active and so seen more often, and to ascertain that one had got the real McCoy, one had to include shots of its yellow rump.

I managed only one sighting of the Sub-adult but most fortunately a prolonged one during which it was seen to be seeking, to no response from the adults which probably were ignoring this young in order to encourage its independence.  This sighting also enabled me to see a peculiar behaviour of the bird as it regurgitated its food, or waste, as a tiny black ball.

Looked like it would be a beautiful female adult when it eventually returned home.
