Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

An eye-to-eye encounter

The terribly shy White-breasted Waterhen made eye contact, not once but twice, and decided to carry on with its foraging in the bushes.  This came as a surprise as it would normally have scooted at the first sign of human presence.
From this angle, its white face, black eyes and the curvy tilt at the base of its bill lend it a calm adorable air.
